Outbound Alaska Charters offers Sitka fishing adventures that are truly rewarding for anglers of all fishing backgrounds and age groups. We are a family friendly charter fishing service and welcome you to make the journey to Sitka, Alaska to enjoy a true Alaskan experience in the far North. On our Sitka fishing excursions, you will fish for wild Alaska salmon and halibut. We run our Sitka fishing charters from a new 30 foot fishing vessel "Micah", which was transferred from Washington State to Sitka in April-May of 2006. The summer schedule tends to book up fast, so don't hesitate to call and see if your preferred dates are available. Sitka Combination Fishing
Sitka is in close proximity to both Alaska salmon and nearby bottom fishing grounds, which sets the stage for World-Class combination fishing. If you're planning a fishing trip to Southeast Alaska, this is absolutely one of Sitka's strongest assets. Sitka King Salmon fishing is nothing short of amazing! Sitka is often called Southeast Alaska's "King Capital" for having the regions highest king catch rates year in and year out. Coming full circle on the combination fishing, Sitka halibut fishing is incredible. These giant fish of the deep will test both your strength and fortitude once you get hooked up. Sitka halibut average about 40 lbs and can range to over 300 lbs. Our halibut fishing is done with All-Star and Loomis stand up tuna rods fitted with shimano TLD's both in single and two speed. The reels are spooled with 80 lb izorline spectra.
Sitka Salmon Fishing
During the summer fishing months, schools of hungry Sitka king salmon move closer to shore from their winter-feeding grounds in the North Pacific. As they move closer to Sitka's shoreline, they feed on never ending schools of smaller fish to gain the needed energy for their eventual migration up to where they were originally hatched. King Salmon range from 15 to 60 lbs. Stika King salmon fishing is done with medium action G-loomis rods fitted with Diawa line counter reels and 25 lb monofilament. Sitka Silver salmon can be described in one word - "Action!" Summer in Sitka brings incredible schools of hard-hitting silver salmon to our shoreline. Silver Salmon have hearty appetites coupled with intense competition within the schools, creates a virtual feeding frenzy. Multiple hook-ups of these acrobatic fish are common, and cause immediate pandemonium that's guaranteed to get the heart pump'n and these fish range in size from 8 to 20 lbs. We fish silver salmon with medium action G-loomis rods fitted with Diawa line counter reels and 20 lb monofilament.
